Following the successful launch of the first IP-Thlon in Udine, ANIMA MUNDI and CEE Animation will organise the #2 and #3 editions of the IP-Thlons during Animafest Zagreb, one of Europe’s leading animation festivals.

Taking place from 8–10 June 2026 and 9–11 June 2026, these intensive working sessions bring together animation professionals, legal experts, researchers and industry stakeholders to explore how European animated intellectual property (IP) can be better protected, managed and exploited in international markets.

Organised within the framework of the ANIMA MUNDI project and in cooperation with the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Bridging Visions and ASIFA China, the IP-Thlons provide a collaborative environment where participants can exchange expertise, discuss challenges and identify practical solutions for strengthening the global competitiveness of European animation.

This edition will focus on two key themes: global IP protection and licensing, and IP-based business models and investment strategies

Through expert presentations, facilitated discussions and peer-to-peer exchanges, participants will examine issues such as copyright management, trademarks, licensing practices, financing structures and emerging developments related to AI and international content exploitation.

The insights generated during the IP-Thlons will contribute to ANIMA MUNDI’s ongoing research and policy work, helping to develop practical recommendations that support the internationalisation of European animation and strengthen the sector’s long-term growth.

Hosted with the support of Animafest Zagreb, the IP-Thlons continue ANIMA MUNDI’s mission to connect research, policy and industry expertise in order to unlock the global potential of European animated works.
