ANIMA MUNDI’s first IP-Thlon launches in Udine, Italy
Info
Between April 29 and 30, ANIMA MUNDI will kick-off its first IP-Thlon in Udine, Italy. An intensive workshop dedicated to strengthening the international exploitation of European animated intellectual property, the activity is organised by CEE Animation in collaboration with ANIMA MUNDI. The event launches the start of the project’s IP-Thlons, a series of targeted working sessions designed to address key challenges in exporting European Intellectual Properties to global markets.
The IP-Thlon in Udine takes place alongside the Far East Film Festival, a major platform for exchange and cooperation between the Asian and European film industries. Within this context, the workshop brings together selected professionals and experts in a structured format. Participants are organised into working groups to explore strategic issues including IP protection and licensing in international environments, IP-based business models, and pathways to access key Asian markets such as China, Japan and South Korea.
The activity is implemented under Task 6.3 of ANIMA MUNDI, which focuses on developing best practices and testing innovative approaches to improve the global circulation of European animated IPs. Through facilitated discussions and collaborative problem-solving, the IP-Thlons aim to identify concrete barriers and opportunities related to intellectual property management, financing structures and strategic positioning in non-European markets.
A major milestone of the project, the IP-Thlons play a central role in placing ANIMA MUNDI’s research in direct contact with industry stakeholders. The insights generated through these sessions will directly inform the project’s broader objectives of enhancing the international reach, competitiveness and strategic capacity of the European animation sector. By anchoring its work with current industry challenges, ANIMA MUNDI ensures that its outputs remains relevant, applicable and aligned with the needs of European professionals operating in a global market.
